My name is Joel. I am seventeen, and from England, where I attended a Waldorf school up to and including GCSEs. I now live in Pune, India, where my family is based for two to three years, and I am studying independently for A levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry alongside attending a learner-led micro-school.

Computer programming has been a long-standing interest, and I have enjoyed learning several languages over the past few years. I taught myself HTML specifically in order to build this site, having had no previous experience of web development.

I would welcome any feedback on the site. As a beginner in web design, I am grateful for suggestions of any kind.

My other interests include 3D modelling and printing, for which I am currently learning Blender; reading, most recently Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, which I would recommend warmly; badminton; chess, at a highest blitz rating of 1405, or approximately the 94th percentile; music of any era, provided I can sing along; and, of course, mathematics.

I have always had an affinity for mathematics, encouraged in my earlier years, I suspect, by the satisfaction of being good at something. I now recognise that what draws me to the subject is its comprehensibility: every new idea can be traced back to something already understood, in a way that can leave you feeling you might have discovered it yourself, given enough time.

My aim is to share that experience, as others have done before me — most notably the YouTube channel @3blue1brown, which uses remarkable visuals generated in Python with a library called Manim.
