Why Maths?

Because maths is amazing!

So many people despise mathematics. And with good reason – the way it's often taught can feel like a never-ending series of rules and procedures to memorize, with little connection to the real world or to our intuition.

This site is designed for curious minds who want to understand the ideas behind the symbols, not just the procedures.

Maths is unique among subjects in that it is infinitely comprehensible, meaning there is always a logical path from any concept back to absolute fundamental principles, things that you can see are true, and understand in your soul instead of keeping in your head as a rule to follow. This site is about finding those paths, and making them clear and intuitive.

Who is this site for?

This site is designed for anyone who wants to understand the underlying concepts of mathematics, rather than just memorizing formulas and procedures. Whether you're a student, or simply someone curious about the world around you, you'll find that this approach to learning maths can be both enlightening and enjoyable.

You don't need to be a math genius - my aim is to lay it out in a way that literally anyone can understand.

If you don't understand something I've written on one of my pages, then the fault is in my explanation because my goal is to make it comprehensible to every mind. Therefore please do not hesitate to ask, and I can improve the page. In fact if you have any questions about maths, or if there's a topic you'd like to see covered on this site, please do get in touch with me through this link.

Please use this site on a computer. I've tried to make sure every page works on mobile too, but you won't get the same experience, especially with the interactive elements.

If you're on your phone or iPad and you have a computer accessible nearby, I recommend switching before you go on to read any of the pages.
