Drills
Substituting positive and negative values into expressions and formulae, powers handled in the right order.
Author note — to cover
- Fluency — substituting positive integers into two-term expressions, answers typed as numbers (4 questions).
- Formulae — evaluating v = u + at, s = ut + ½at² and similar with every value given and chosen so no calculator is needed (4 questions).
- Negatives and powers — substituting x = −3 into 3x², x² − x and 2 − x, where an unbracketed −3 squared gives the wrong sign (4 questions).
