- Fluency — writing directions as three-figure bearings with leading zeros required, and reading the bearing of B from A off a marked diagram (4 questions).
- Back bearings and journeys — the return bearing by adding or subtracting 180°, and two-leg journeys using angle facts at the turn, whole degrees throughout (4 questions).
- Scale — converting between map and ground with ratio scales like 1:25 000 and drawing scales like 1 cm to 5 km, the unit change being the catch (4 questions).
