Author note — to cover
- Fluency — index notation, evaluating squares, cubes and small powers, recognising numbers like 64 as powers (4 questions).
- Roots — square, cube and higher roots, cube roots of negatives, and x² = k answered either as a single choice naming all solutions or by typing the negative root; no question ever asks for two typed values (5 questions).
- Rational or irrational — single-choice classification where √(9/16) and √0.25 catch the 'roots are irrational' reflex; fraction-valued answers appear only as choice options (3 questions).
